The Marx Set #15640 is a highly distinct, specialized release from the mid-1960s. It is officially cataloged as the Sears Heritage Rocky Mountain Express. It completely ditches the postwar black freight aesthetics in favor of a 19th-century Old West frontier design.

    • The Locomotive: An electric, all-plastic "William Crooks" 4-4-0 steam engine. It is lettered for the Saint Paul and Pacific Railroad. Note that this specific Sears retail version was stripped down to save on production costs.
    • The Tender: A matching plastic wood-vent tender designed to simulate stacked logs instead of coal.
    • Rolling Stock: A specialized work-and-log configuration rather than standard boxcars. It includes a flatcar with a simulated log/lumber load and a vintage-style four-wheel caboose (numbered #45).
    • The Trestle Set: A massive 16-piece high-rise pier and trestle set. This allowed the O-gauge track layout to climb into a steep over-and-under configuration.

Table, track, and accessories are shown for testing and illustrative purposes. Only the engine, the cars, and any accessories on the cars are included.
