Puff The Magic Rocker

Description

This little dragon is simply looking for a home with your little boy or girl. Made to order, you can choose the wood type, stain, and/or paint. You can even choose the level of completion and put your own spin on this little gem; ideal for resellers or simply to impart your own special touch on this little guy.

Wood Choice:

• Pine ($200) - By far the cheapest option, pine is a "soft wood" and is an ideal cost-saver when Puff is to be painted. However, pine is known for chipping over time and can occasionally produce splinters if not well painted. All that aside, pine is perfect for a shou sugi ban finish, as it hardens the wood and makes the grain very pronounced. Janka hardness rating between 380 and 870 lbf, depending on the exact species.
• Poplar ($225) - A "hardwood" not known for splintering, but rather for its buttery smooth finish and low grain detail. This is not an ideal choice for staining as there is little grain to show through, but it is ideal for painting, as the grain doesn't bleed through the paint. Janka hardness rating of 540 lbf
• Oak ($250) - Significantly harder than Poplar, white oak has excellent texture, making it ideal for staining. The all-white nature of this wood can come across as a little drab, so one should consider either painting accents or, even better, using colored stains to make those accents pop. Janka hardness rating of 1,360 pounds.
• Walnut ($275) - Slightly softer than Oak, walnut brings its beautiful color and grain to the table. Frequently, this wood can transition from whitish (sapwood) to reddish-brown to dark brown within a single board, creating beautiful transitions. It is a sin to paint or color-stain this wood, as most people prefer to simply seal it and rely solely on its natural color. Janka hardness rating of 1,010 lbf
• Walnut, Dark Only ($300) - Significantly more expensive than our "Walnut" option, this option excludes boards with sapwood, eliminating the transition from the whiteish sapwood to the preferred darker brown tones.
• Walnut & Oak ($300) - For truly ageless beauty, this variant will surely be a hand-me-down for your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Referring to the Red-Yellow-White dragon pictured here, we use dark walnut (e.g., no sapwood) for the red pieces, natural oak (unstained) for the white pieces, and oak stained to a dark red, blue, or green for the yellow pieces.
  

Level of Completion:

• Unassembled (+$0) - This variant will need to be glued, shaped/sanded, painted, and /or stained. This option is ideal for flat packing to reduce shipping costs.
• Assembled (+$15) - We will assemble and glue the rocker together, but leave it to you to shapen/sand, paint, and/or stain it. This option is ideal for anyone who wants an assembled product, but still wants to apply their own custom shapening/sanding, paint, and/or stain.
• Finished (+$15) - For this option, we are looking at a finished (painted or stained) rocker, with or without assembly or shaping, and painted or stained to your specification.
• Shaped (+$50) - For this option, we will fully assemble the rocker and carve down the high spots to achieve a more realistic look. An example of this is reducing the nose from three layers thick to a single rounded layer, rounding the head, and tapering the tail.

Finishing Options

• Unfinished (+$0) - All parts (assembled or not) come sanded, ready for paint or stain.
• Painted (+$15) - All parts come painted to your specification.
• Stained (+$15) - All parts come stained to your specification.

Notes:

1. Due to the custom nature of this product, additional post-purchase communication will be required to select features such as paint or stain color.
2. For unassembled rockers, glue areas will be intentionally left unpainted and unstained so the glue can bond the pieces properly.
